While doing an upgrade to my support helpdesk a few days ago I totally mess up big time...
Here's how I did it
I do this everyday upload and download files from our server including backups, videos, audio, you know webmaster stuff.
Anyway, what I did was while updated the database without really reading the instructions carefully I manage to delete some stuff , well overwrite some stuff I shouldn't have.
Well, after the so called upgrade I did, everything seems to work until a customer sent me an email about SQL errors and pages not loading.
I was been cheeky because I've done this many of times so I didn't use a safety net, I didn't backup any files major cardinal sin as a webmaster.
So my tip to you today is always perform a backup before you do any editing or overwriting on your sites.
I felt like a real idiot because I knew what to do and didn't do it.
